Jacquie Korb

In 2023 after an unexpected change in travel plans, my home base shifted from a small suburb of Chicago to Alaska and I have no regrets! While I continue to explore the world, I also return to Anchorage time and time again. Prior to finding myself in Alaska, I earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Neuroscience from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

My yoga journey began 5 years ago while in recovery from significantly disabling POTS, hypermobile EDS, and fibromyalgia. Those diagnoses had a heavy influence on the way I learned and continue to practice today. From the beginning of my yoga journey, there has been an emphasis on strength, stability, gentle mobility, Iyengar-informed modifications, and meditation.

During my travels over the past 2-3 years, I obtained my 200-hour YTT from Yoga Renew in Peru and my 300-hour YTT from Rishikesh Yoga Association in Rishikesh, India. Those trainings combined have given me the tools to craft a teaching style that blends the powerful traditional Indian practices with a digestible ‘westernized’ application.

I originally believed yoga was inaccessible for me. Now, I hope to provide an example to others for utilizing accommodation and modification to support health and wellness in a self-informed manner. Spiritual and physical body connectedness and individualized exploration remain the center of my practice, both personal and in the seat of the teacher.

In addition to yoga practice, I have studied and practiced astrology for 8 years, providing detailed natal chart and synastry chart readings for the past several years, and have also developed a unique intuitive tarot reading style. Recently, I have taken my knowledge and experience of these arts to the public domain.

I am happy to join the Open Space family, offering Strength & Flow on Tuesday nights at 530 PM
