I began my yoga journey in the late 1990s, dropping into a hatha yoga class in a dance studio in Cambridge, MA, and I have been hooked ever since. For over 20 years, I have been volunteer teaching in my workplace, and I was a foundational teacher with the former Laughing Lotus of Anchorage. I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training certification at the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre's ashram in Nassau, Bahamas. Having practiced many styles of yoga, I deeply appreciate all of them and focus on finding what is right for the moment. In both my classes and my personal practice, I incorporate gentle flowing sequences, body-mind and energetic awareness practices, play, exploration, and putting our bodies into fun shapes and breathing.
The alchemy of mixing somatic, body-centered movement with breath, intention setting, and a connection to centuries-old traditions is magic to me. While there have been chapters in my life where inspiration ebbed and flowed, I always return to the foundations of yoga; it smooths out the edges and brings me back to who I am at my core.
I enjoy exploring Alaska on foot, skis, paddleboard, and bike, working on art projects, and snuggling with my fur family. I am active with several community-based organizations and have focused my professional career on cultivating social and environmental justice.
