My express intention as a teacher is to lead each class with compassion, and to make yoga accessible for all; regardless of age, experience, or ability. I believe my students teach me just as much as I teach them, and I am continuously humbled by how my students aid my growth as a teacher, and as a human being. I believe everyone should have access to the medicine of movement, and I am honored to serve a diverse community of students in Anchorage with my background and knowledge. Having spent a portion of my childhood and early adolescence living in an ashram in Southern India, I was blessed to be immersed from an early age in a culture where spirituality, contemplative practices, and yoga are woven into everyday life. This early set of experiences continues to inform my approach to the practice today. I find a deep joy in holding sacred space for each student to heal, thrive, and meet their own potential in all dimensions of life. After years performing in a ballet company, I chose to deepen my personal yoga practice. This shift eventually led me to obtain my 500 hour teacher training certificate where I evolved my understanding and application of mindfulness and movement. My deep appreciation for the healing power of yoga is bolstered by my background in psychology and crises management. I hold a bachelor of science in psychology from Southern Oregon University, where I found a passion in studying behavioral neuroscience and western philosophy. I enjoy applying this mosaic of experiences into my teaching. I look forward to seeing you on and off the mat!
